The Good
The Handle:
- The grip is thick, solid; feels just right
- I like the guard
- The thumb-rest feels perfect and enables good control
- The G-10: solid feel, good color, grippy texture, steel liners perfect. We need more G-10 Spydies.
The Blade
- S30V / flat grind / good-sized hole all favorites of mine
The Clip
- Like the SAL logo
- Like the non-coated finish
- Like the tip-up / tip down option
Action
- Smooth and easy
Weight
- The Lil Temp is not overly heavy weight-wise it was no problem to carry around.
Thing I Dont Like
- For me, the clip is worst part of this knife. The clip design makes for a VERY tight pocket grip. I could do the Macarena while hanging upside down from the monkey-bars in a windstorm with no worries about losing the Lil Temp. Unfortunately I dont spend much time performing inverted dances in bad weather so the extra grip is unnecessary. I had to fight to get the Lil Temp in and out of my pocket. Seems like this would quickly chew up a pair of pants. My other Spydies can slide from side-to-side as required the Lil Temp wont budge. The clip grip just doesnt work for me. However, others might like this security.
- The Lil Temp is so large that I have a tough time getting my hand into my pocket to retrieve my keys. I had to remove the Lil Temp before I could remove the keys. I dont have this problem with my Endura or other Spydies. I could work around this by using left-hand carry (keys in right pocket, knife in left) but that is not a clip option.
- Blade play. I am not generally fussy about a little blade play but I have heard many things about the great strength of this lock. I gave the blade a tug. There was a slight amount of vertical play. Pushing the compression bar to the right will stop this, but as soon as you stop pushing, the blade play is back. Is this normal?
Summary
Just my personal impressions.
Thanks
Frank: Thanks for the time you spend on your pass-arounds cant thank you enough for giving me an opportunity that would otherwise be unavailable.
Spyderco: Great company! Great products and great attention to customers. Thanks for being willing to open up your products to criticism and to listen, and respond to, user feedback.
