I just picked this LILE knife up from my buddy up here in the boonies. He purchased it from Jimmy Lile at the 1979 Rochester gun show. I had seen the knife before but the pricelist was a wonderful surprise when he dropped it off to me. The knife has never been used or sharpened and was stored outside of the sheath since he bought it. Check out the prices. I rotated the pics but Flickr decided to re rotate.

Best regards

Nice knife. Don't you wish you grab a handful at those 1979 prices? :D

Nice knife, and nice literature as well! Old ads and catalogue spreads are always very interesting. The smooth stag on the blade is also quite nice.

My 1998 Lile Knives catalog lists the #7 price as - $225 for wood or micarta, and $250 for stag.

I'd love to have a shot at some of the old Lile knives at those prices.

Are you going to use it? The originally sold well because they were great hunting knives.

Hi Brownshoe.
I'm not sure what I will do with it, I bought it because it became available. I have many users so will likely use it as a trader for slippies that I NEEEED :D
The #7 was Liles favourite user according to his price list. It has a great feel in the hand and is scary sharp.

Very very neat Robin, I love the glimpse back in time via the price list too.

Thanks Paul, The price list was such a bonus and the fact that my friend knew Jimmy Lile. He tells me that Lile was always the nicest guy to deal with and had time for everyone.

Best regards

Mr. Lile was a great knifemaker and very friendly to talk to. He put up with a younger version of me asking lots of goofy questions about his Rambo knife even though he knew I had no intention of buying one. His wife was a sweetheart too. My remaining Lile knife was ordered through her at BLADE after he passed. It sits in my gunsafe now, and at times I think about selling it. I always stop myself though when I realize it would be very hard to replace.
