So I've seen many of Allen's Fiddleback Friday knives linger in the thread. Most of them sell, but some do not. I think two Fridays ago Allen offered up a Shortmuck. It was a real beauty in Cherry burl I believe. I've been wanting a small deep belly SS knife similar to the Fiddleback EDC. The Shortmuck is very close to perfection (for me), but the Lil'George is perfect for my intended role.

Allen's Shortmuck was still available a few days later as I spoke to him about how nice it was, but I preferred the Lil'George design. To my surprise he responded he would "de-horn" the Shormuck and make it a Lil'George if I wanted it. I could not pass on such and offer for what would be a perfect little skinner for me.

I received the knife today. It is simply beautiful. More so than pictured in the sale thread. It came hair popping sharp and has the smoothest lines. I can't wait to skin a deer with it.

Thank you again Allen. That is a great customer service to modify the knife for me. I really appreciate what you do. You have been like a late summer time Santa. I can't say enough about both knives.

I will try to get some pics up later for a little show and tell....

Congrats on the WAS. It is super cool that Allen would change a current knife to satisfy a customer, but that's Allen.

"You have been like a late summertime Santa." LOL

Yes, I am finding myself found of the ~3" blades. Only time will tell in the use.

So tomorrow is the first day of youth deer season. My 5 year old daughter and I have been practicing and managing our little lease. I'm really hoping we see one to shoot at in the morning. One, so she gets the thrill right off the bat and two, so I get to skin a deer with the lil'George. I bought this knife just for this purpose and have been admiring it for long enough. It's time to put it to use.
I really favor this little thing, seemingly more than other knives I own. The shape, the scales, comfort, and feels agile. Can't wait to draw first cut with the little jewel.
I'll update if the hunting gods favor us...

Well my 5 year old daughter and I shot our first deer together this evening. This was after a very disappointing trip last night. She didn't want to stay until dark so we left a bit early. While getting out of the stand, a doe about 100 yards away blew at us and ran off. We could have easily taken her if we would have been still sitting.
So this even we redeemed ourselves and took a little 3 point (really spike with a little ring hanger). Not a trophy, but in the eyes of a 5 year old it was the best deer ever.
Finally got a chance to use my WAS lil'George. As expected, I really like it it is easy to manipulate when ringing legs and easily skim the hid away withe the nice belly. Definitely not too small as I was leery it may be. So after we finished I pulled up my sleeve and ran the blade down my arm; still shaving sharp. I'm really liking the CPM version of 154 SS. It was a fitting end to a long weekend of hunting. Now I'm curious how many deer I can dress before a good sharpening is needed. Only time and more fortune in the hunts will tell.
Sorry I didn't get any pics of the cleaning, but we were pressed for time trying to get back. He was a bit hectic trying to get it all wrapped up on a school/work night.
Thanks Allen again for a great little blade. I can say now as of this day the lil'George is my favorite fixed blade.
