A Busse is one of the few knives i do not own yet. Is the LE Boss Jack a good introduction to Busse? Is the handle material just a matter of preference? Any input here would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!:D

It's a great first Busse! The handle will depend on a couple of things - colour taste & comfort.

For a user I would go down the canvas micarta route. That said, the paper micarta is pretty good too, just not as 'grippy' as the canvas.

For looks, go for G10. And again, that said, it's still pretty darn food for a user anyway.

Hope this helps.

:)

Ok cool! I kinda like the black and tan canvas handle! And I use all my knives! Thanks!!

It's bound to be classic and is soon to be pulled for the LBNMSHBM.

Boss Jack LE is a great knife!
I suppose it depends on what you'll be using it for, but IMO, the length and weight would make it very versatile in your inventory.

Also great that you can still get it direct from the factory.

Also, if you have bigger hands, you might want to include some colored spacers to fatten the handle scales out. Plus, it looks super awesome with red, or blue, or yellow, or orange spacers!

I've owned over 20+ models and the BOSS Jack is my favorite - it's just a VERY usable knife... Comfy handle, good blade size, not too tall, not too thick and not too heavy :)

It's also the only Busse I own two of and will most likely order a third once they announce it's going bye bye :D

I prefer canvas micarta, but orange G10 is just awesome.

You really can't go wrong any way you go...

The Boss Jack is a great knife. I have one LE (black canvas) and one CG (black G10). The CG is about 20% heavier than the LE in this set up, so I'd always recommend the LE as long as you don't need the additional amount of steel (full convex grind & thicker stock) and corrosion resistance (coating) of the CG.

pros micarta:
- better grip when wet
- "warmer" to the touch which makes it probably better in cold temperatures
- lighter

pros G-10
- doesn't absorb fluids (sweat, oil, blood, food,...)
- won't change color over time
- a little bit tougher (even though micarta is already tougher than you'll ever need)

I have and like both handle materials. The differences outlined above are more scientifically relevant - but don't necessarily reflect that much on your user experience.

g10 also takes up a better grit when sanding. If you sand canvas micarta with 80 grit sand paper it will fuzzy because of the canvas. If you do it on g10 it feels like your holding 400 grit sandpaper, super grippy.

I guess by looks? I like the black canvas look! And i dont think it ll see such extremes where G10 would be needed!

I have the LE and had spacers added- it changes the grip for the better IMHO. Unfortunately I don't have glamor pics of it yet to post.

First Busse eh? Quick, run while you can... once you get your first Busse, it's all over... then you'll want a Fusion Steel Heart, then a Fusion Battle mistress, then a BATAC, then a SJTAC, then a Hell razor.. then.... well, you get the idea, they aren't just knives, their art.. and a survival tool. personally, G10 looks great, and can be roughed, but personally for lots of usage, the canvas micarta is the way to go. I personally like the combat grades more than the LEs. so much extra for the shiny blade, and less tactical. You'll be back for more :)

If you don't get one now-your gonna pay a nice premium on the exchange later. Both are amazing, but the LE is just really polished- fit/finish is exceptional.

It's muddy with TAN canvas - awesome awesome combo!

I think ill order a third in sage/black canvas choiless...
