Today I finally received the limited edition Vision (w/ti scales and a plain edge blade instead of the standard combo edge) that I had ordered many months ago directly from SOG. I should add that the shipping delay, in no way SOG's fault, was due to the round-about way that I chose to get the knife from the USA to me here in Italy.
OK, so finally I have the knife. First off, I want to say thanks to Ron and to SOG for making the transaction so effortless. You knifeknuts living in the USA may not know it, but there are plenty of American vendors who will not make international credit card sales; some won't make any international sales at all, credit card or not. Thanks for the trust, Ron.
Second, I have to say that this knife is one bad MF. It gets people's attention when you open it. I really like the width of the blade, which seem to me to be greater, especially towards the base, than most folders of comparable size. The blade shape is different from anything else I have, but I like it. It appears to be strong and functional, the best of both worlds between a tanto point and a drop point. Also, the Vision is heftier than I was expecting. Size - wise it's about the same as a large Sebenza, but it's significantly heavier. Extra weight notwithstanding, the Vision is very comfortable to hold, and the thumbstud cutouts provide a natural resting place for the forefinger. I don't mind the Vision's weight; it gives the knife a comfortably substantial feel and, anyway, I'll probably be carrying it in a belt sheath instead of clipped to my pocket.
Gripes? Well, I would have preferred a tip down design, particularly since there are sharp-ish edges on the thumbstud and on the Arc Lock stud that can catch as you extract the knife from your pocket. But, like I said, I'll probably use belt carry, so this shouldn't be a significant problem. Aside from this, the fit and finish of the Vision are excellent and the blade is very sharp.
I haven't had a chance to use my new Vision yet (like I said, it just got here), but it looks like a great knife and I'm looking forward to putting it through the paces.
