I have a question, but no answer yet. Which model has the greatest number of limited editions? There are a couple of ways to look at this, such as the total number of limited editions or the number of limited editions relative to the number of years that the standard model appeared in the catalog. Some models, the 110 for example, probably have a lot of limited editions, but relative to the total number of knives sold over the years, the ratio of limited to regular production might not be that high. What are your thoughts?

If we could get production numbers, I'm sure some math whizzes around here could figure it both ways. Good, interesting question.

There seems to be a lot of special 532s relative to how many regular ones I think are sold. 212s are almost nothing but limited editions. Not enough limited edition slipjoints (made by Buck). :) It also depends on what you mean by limited editions. There are tons of 525s on the Special Project List and catalog, for example. But I think the answer is 110 - there are so many special/limited editions.

I wish I knew. How about restricting this to knives that were in the catalog for a short time—the 500 series of "Siberian" impala, for example. The Legacy Knives would qualify. I wouldn't restrict this to knives that are labeled Limited Edition. I don't think we need to be rigid about this.

It depends on the time frame too. But after paging through a few catalogs, I am going to say the candidates are, in decreasing order, 110, 525, 192, 532. Those models seem to come up regularly like in the 2000s. The 525s drop out in recent times (though there seemed to be so many in their heyday) but you still see a lot of the other three. I think I would extend the definition to BOTMs, stealth runs, and web limited editions, like the recent 532 paua and mop ones. Some of the other 500 series might make the list too. Edit: 119 needs to be on the list too.
