I will be submitting an idea to CRK as soon as I log off here and would like input from all who care to share their opinions. I want to buy a Sebenza and a Mnandi with a Elder Inlay and possibly with Damascas blade.I was thinking CRK could offer these as limited sets, with exotic woods and graphic designs, numbered and in a presentation case with certificate.A couple diiferent designs per year maybe.Let me know what you think....

Sounds like a nice idea, though Chris is very, very particular about doing things his way or no way. Can't hurt to suggest though. You may also want to ask him about doing the same with bark ivory and maybe a unique type of Damascus...such as stainless Fireball.
;)

You could always do it yourself...

Yes, the DIY option probably works the best for CRK . . .

The reason I'm surmising this is that CRK only makes so many of these LEs -- for them to group them into sets, this narrows the market for those particular knives that are in that set; they have to find folks that want and can afford buy all three, want all of one inlay, and they deprive buyers that want to buy just one, and want to mix (as opposed to match).

Part of the "fun" (challenge) is trying to put together sets from CRK's regular production. Sort of like hunting.

I agree about the GIY sets! It is part of the fun; hunting and finding that special CR!

I agree -- and I didn't figure this out until James started making me envious of all of his sets! Now, I've got several Sebenzas/mnandis that I want to trade/sell in order to put sets together -- transactions I could have avoided had I just ordered them straight from CRK this way.

I suppose I've got some "fun" ahead of me . . .

You guys/gals are probably right. I was thinking for the collector it would be nice if they made about 5-10 of each type all numbered with certificates and a nice story about choosing the wood, crafting the knives and displayed in a case made of the same wood as the inlays. Most people couldn't afford it and most people wouldn't get a set either, which makes it desireable and collectable none the less.It was just a pipe dream.I will buy CRKs anyway because I just recieved my first CRK today,a plain Sebenza with blue.Man is this a knife! I can't even begin to say enough about the quality of the fit and finish. I can't wait to recieve my NICA Exclusive Tanto. I have a Rick Hinderer on order and from there I am focusing on CRKs,folding and fixed.
