Seems like facebook is becoming ever more popular as means by which makers can connect with each other and with their customers. That's where I ran across this bowie by my friend Lin Rhea.

I'll show you the fittings first - what's cool about them is that they are 416 stainless - and they are forged.

Bronze spacers would add a nice lift:

The blade would be one of my favourite shapes in he bowie genre - long and graceful with a looooong clip. In this case one that would be made razor sharp:

And an ironwood handle would tie it all together.

The specs:

11 1/2 inch blade 1095
OAL is 16 inches
416 stainless fittings with bronze accents
Desert Ironwood handle

Now meet "The Boss"

Though the knife looks totally "done" to me, Lin insists that there is some more tweaking yet to come, and with luck, we'll get Chuck Ward to give is all a better look at the completed product.

Man, am I ever looking forward to the Bladeforums Best Bowie 2012 - each year seems to surpass the next for quality entries.

Start getting your nominees together, gents!

That blade has as good a profile as it gets. The whole thing flows beautifully. Yours?

Very nice!!! I did a guard similar to that from 416 bar stock and let me tell you, getting it hot and hitting it is a LOT easier on the wrists and elbows than doing it cold, which I have done ion the past.

I saw this on face book I am friends with Lin he puts up some cool stuff . I love the lines on this knife and the coining on the spacers pulls it all together nice score Roger great bowie Lin

Cudos to Lin for one beautiful Bowie. I've always been a fan of a long clip but I guess that I didn't realize that it was such a popular style.

Thanks for posting.

Gary

Jon / Dave - I sure wish it was mine - but alas, no. I just love the knife though - I told Lin it was one of my faves of the year, and this has been one HECK of a year for killer bowies.

Roger, it is good to know that long clip style is apparently still popular the world over. I took a ladder damascus, 416 and stag knife similar to that to Belgium and it got snapped up first thing Saturday morning when the general public was let in..

This is one fine knife. I think that a lot of makers are missing out by not useing Facebook to display their work.

 Super duper clip. Really like that blade in general and that clip in particular

Thank you Roger for showing the knife.Thank you folks for your comments. I'll probably have a better photo of this one real soon and post it up asap. Here is a shot square on.

Lin is on fire with the knives he's creating.
This is an extraordinary piece. The blade is very ST-24ish.

But with the lower point that most of the ST24's. One thing about that long clip design is that you can vary the shape and size a fair bit and it still turns out looking good.

The blade does remind me of the ST-24 as well.
I give Bill Buxton credit for pushing me to forge 416.
Thank you gentlemen.

I like it alot...the blade profile plus the guard does it for me!!

Nice job Lin!
