Hi all!

How are Linder's knives? I haven't heard of them in this forum but there's quite good selection of their knives in reasonable prices ( well at least natively ) in here. It seems to be german manufacturer.

I am especially looking: Linder Rocky Mountain Bowie. 150€ price tag is quite steep and making me think I might get at same price perhaps better quality knife, maybe even RAT Cutlery or Buck. Especially when steel is 440A Stainless and Handles are Cocobola price seems bit... well a lot steep compearing Buck Cocobolo Woodsman which is 85 €'s.

Buck Vanguard is 99€ which looks really nice with brass fingerguard and bolster + wood handle. I could get Buck Ranger 112 + Buck Vanguard at the same price with Linder's Rocky Mountain Bowie...

While i have only bought one Linder thus far(a stag handle folding pocket knife with one blade), it seemed very well constructed. It was a lockback and it locked up firm and tight. No blade play at all. It did not come ultra super sharp. I originally was told that the steel was 440B or 440A, i don't remember now. Lately, while looking through a lot of European knives, i stumbled upon the knife on a different site than the one i used and they listed the steel as 440C. Anyway, the knife was excellent. I think you pay for the construction quality rather than the steel in certain European knife companies. Hope i have been at least mildly interesting if not exactly helpful. Good luck.

Thanks for input. I might try some cheaper Linder knife before getting around $ 200 bowie. But quality craftmanship sounds very good.

I inquired of croc hunter from german knifeforums, and people generally seem to like them. I didn't end up buying one however, because of the stick tang (too long blade for that kind of tang). They also offer some full tang ones but they are stainless and I always am paranoid with stainless when it comes to bowie sized knives (choppers).

They have some really nice designs, but I also get turned off by the oversized text messages on the blades (this and that bowie, made in solingen of 400A steel :jerkit:)

Anyway, do report if you ever get one.

Yeah, I did check that croc hunter too. I like Rocky Mountain Bowie because it has Full tang and lacks the huge advertisements. I like pure spartan utilitarian looks on my knives. I like pretty handles but leave the blade alone ^^

I reckon the steel is fine with Linder, germans tend to be wizards with steel.
It's a damn nice looking one.. go for it go for it! :D

I had a large Linder Bowie with stag scales before. I never used it but I remember that it was very good put together.
