Greetings,

I have a pair of tantos from my father’s collection. Dug around online and could not come up with any hits pertaining to value.

The linder is in great shape, and the Parker is in good shape, but shows signs of being handled. The parker does not have a sheath.

Any best guesses for value on these? I would like to post them in the classified section here.

"Parker Cut" was one of the companies owned by Jim Parker. 1980s timeframe, I think. He had knives made for him by mostly German and Japanese companies, it being before "made in China" was a thing for cutlery. In general, Parker's knives were well made. There are some folks out there who collect his traditional patterned knives. I don't know what the market is for a tanto.

The bigger one might have been German made, hence the Rostfrei.

They both could have been made by Hattori knives in Japan. Do a search, they have made knives for a lot of companies.

The Copilot AI suggests that the Linder is an adaption of the Cold Steel 'American Tanto'. I asked for styles and timelines. Sure looked to me like that at first glance as well.

Linder made their own quality knife lines, but they also outsourced to provide less costly knives for a different consumer.

The Linder was part of their recent "Shogun" series, they were priced $50-75 usually, but there isn't any collector interest because they're considered a Cold Steel knock-off. So I'd consider anything close to that $50-75 range a great price for the seller.

The Parker tanto is a different kettle of fish, it's pretty rare and wanted. It was made by G Sakai, and was based mostly on the Pacific Cutlery Kuzan Oda tanto with a few changes. I've seen them with the sheath bring $125-175. I'm not sure how much to deduct for a missing one, maybe 30% or so?
