I recently received a Linder machete with a 14" blade. So far I am impressed with this one. It seems very sturdy and chops well, is easy to sharpen, well balanced IMO, etc... I know it's somewhat thicker than some for the more common machetes but that's why I like it. To be honest I want to use it for chopping rather than clearing brush.

Anyway, I did find a few threads hear and there but not many. If anyone out there has put this one through its paces for heavier work than clearing brush could you please let me know how this bad boy performs and how it is holding up. Thanks. :)

I don't have one, but I remember reading a review of several machetes (with a Linder being one of them) and the author found that the edge retention wasn't so hot and his edge kept rolling. :o

Let us know how yours does though!

Well I finally got a chance to do some chopping with the Linder last night and I broke the handle. :grumpy: The handle is one piece and the "stick tang" of the machete is pinned inside it with three pins. Sadly the bottom cracked and it began to rattle. I'm thinking about making a micarta or delrin handle for it but not sure it'd be worth the $$$ to send it to any one. I really like the feel of this thing. Hefty but balanced IMO. I hope I can get a decent handle on it because I still think it is a great chopper.

I like the thicker machetes for chopping so maybe I'll try out the Ontario Cutlass or the Condor Bolo 15" Machete.

I'll have to measure it when I get home tonight. A bit thicker than my Ontario 18 " Econo Machete which is .08".

The tang is not only a stick tang but also is a crescent moon shape at the end so its not squared off. I'll take pictures when I get home tonight.
