My FFBM has already been stripped by the previous owner but it was not a complete job and she desrves to be "pretty." At least before I "beat her up" (man, that's sounds bad.. ) The thing is, there are areas along the ricatta and "skull crusher" that are still covered and are particularly hard to get at etc...

What would happen to my handles (linen-micarta) if I simply took a large pan, place my BM inside, and filled it completely with paint stripper??

Micarta is supposed to be resilient to paint thinner, I've heard, but can it survive complete emersion for say 20 mins????

Thanks all,

Wait for more feedback but it has never hurt mine. I have never done a full submersion but if its all the same material I would think you would be o.k. Also try emailing Garth at the shop. ;)

I got paint stripper all over my linen micarta... didn't hurt it at all.

Different blast mediums are more abrasive than others. Wait for pimpducci to come along and explain :D

BLAST IT !!!!

I've hit micarta with a 80 grit glass medium with 100psi and all the micarta did was laugh!!! Seriously, if you want to get at the nooks and crannies than blasting is the best way to go. And when you're all done....it'll be the best finish for using there is....

DOUBLE CUT!!!

I agree....double cut is my favorite finish for using as well....something about it :D I like polished as well. If I have to have a coating it might as well be tan though...if not, black

what grits do you recommend for the double cut process? should I start at 80 and work my way up?
