Linen Micarta vs Canvas Micarta

functionally?
no difference but texture.
in reality - the type of material soaked in epoxy.
(canvas, linen, paper, denim, fiberglass, etc...)

I have both and honestly I don't find the canvas to have more grip.

Over time the canvas seems to smooth up, and then if anything, the linen seems to

have the upper hand as far as grip.

They are both extremely strong. And about equal in the grip department IMO.

I agree with eloreno about the grip. I do not have a preference over either. If this matter is going to be a factor in a new knife purpose i would go with what you think looks best.

I had a 5 and now have a 6. Both have different types of Micarta. I like the look and texture of the 5 which is a canvas micarta. It does seem to be easier to grip as well and does not move around in the hand as much. The 6 is still excellent and I believe this is a very slim difference in my opinion.

In my experience they both offer excellent grip for being untextured. I personally like the look of linen micarta a little bit more than the canvas.

i have one knife with burlap micarta scales. looks nice and is grippy.

i have two with linen scales. same knife, one has slick polished scales and one has bead blasted or something a little less shiny. the shiny one seems like it would be slick if wet.

I wouldn't call the canvas untextured. The two that I have both definitely have a lot of texture (RC-3MIL and Izula scales).
