Linen micarta?

have just gotten my first bullnose and it is/was red linen micarta. Is it normal for the color to wear off and see some white streaks in the scales?

The quick and easy answer is; yes, it is normal. But with much use, it may also darken. The darkening happens more so with canvas micarta than it does with linen micarta.

if you want it dark again, just rub a drop or two of mineral oil or cooking oil on it. Micarta lightens up when the canvas/linen begins to "dry" out, which only occurs on the surface where the cnavas/linen is exposed during sanding/polishing. The integrity of the micarta is not affected in either state.

Great advice above! Micarta is very durable and will take lots of abuse, you don't need to worry about using it hard

Had not planned on being easy on it but the white I hadn't noticed before made me wonder if I had somehow scraped the color off so to speak
