Linen vs. Canvas Micarta

Canvas Micarta.

It's made from layers of Canvas as opposed to ground linen on the latter.

I would say the differences would be neglegable though. Mainly in the area of the breaking point when flexed.

Nema C, one of the two grades of canvas Micarta would be the most durable of all the Micartas. It has the highest impact strength, tensile strength, compressive strength and flexure strength.

Actually, both Linen and Canvas Micarta are made from layers of cotton. Linen is not used at all. The difference is that Linen Micarta uses a fine weave cotton and Canvas uses a medium weave.

You're right, the paper Micarta I have worked with was not in layers, and I was confusing the two.

(and not like layers of an onion... for you Shrek fans ;))

I didn't know that the fabric was cotton though.
