I am fixing to venture into liner lock folding knives and have a few questions. First off what thickness SS and type do you guys use ? And also how do you heat treat it ? are do you heat treat it ? Thanks in advance and there will be plenty more questions im sure. Almost forgot what size screws do you use and type flat,Socket or Button Head?

I use titanium for my liner material... 0.050 is about right for a gents folder, use thicker if you're building a tactical or framelock. Check out some of the other threads in the archives for more info on ti vs stainless in liners. For screws, I like 0-80 socket head for bolsters and 1-72 button head for attaching handles. Sometimes I use different combinations depending on the design of the knife.

I got a lot of help through a tutorial on line. I believe the custom knife directory. However, I can't seem to raise that site. The site seems to be down for one reason or another. Sure was (is?) and incredible source for help and tips.

I've started recently and am using titanium. The titanium has great memory and acts as a good spring for the linger lock leaf.

Get Bob Terzuola's book on making Tactical Folders. It will save you a fortune!
