Liner lock or framelock...what came first?

Was just wondering this, was the framelock invented first or the liner lock? And was the one the that was invented second basically based off the one that was invented first?

Liner lock came first. The frame lock was invented as an improvement to it, by Mr. Chris Reeve if I'm not mistaken.
