Just got my emerson commandar back from factory work. Noticed that liner lock does not fully cross under blade. appears stuck on one side(left). i thought liner lock always locked up in center on blade. not getting a warm a fuzzy feeling. stab it through a old tire, did not collapse. anyone every notice this??? should it cross all the way to the other side???? all they did was sharpen, and fix some clip screws, blade is the same.

IMO, in general, liner locks should not cross the blade. Usually anything more than 50% cover of the liner lock is sufficient if the lock is well designed and executed.
A real knifemaker may have more info--or better!

You and yer knife are fine. When that bar slides all the way over, get a hold of STR, here on BF. He'll do er up right.

Yeah, what Greg and Lycosa said. That's why I like this forum so much, so many people willing to help ya. I'll second that comment about STR.

If the lock bar goes all the way across it is definitely going too far.

When I make a liner lock I fit the lock so the lock bar goes across the blade face only 1/16" inch, the thickness of the lock bar. Any farther than that is not going to improve the lockup at all.

Usually, centered under the first third is considered optimal (meaning the center of the liner should be under the center of imaginary line that divides the first and second third). It allows for some wear. Sounds like you got a perfectly adjusted liner lock.
