Liner lock & sharpener

I just noticed that on my Whirlwind the blade is not centered, it's pushed away from the liner lock. Is this normal?

Oh, and does anyone know what sharpener works best for the Whirlwind? Like what sharpener would make the same edge?

You mean when it is closed, the blade slants to the liner that isn't the lock? That is normal, believe it or not! I've seem a lot of linerlocks like that. The liner lock will put some pressure on it and push it to the other side. All you have to do is tighten the pivot a little bit, and it will center better, but it will be a little tighter to open. Personally, it doesn't bother me all that much when it happens. It only bothers me when it slants to the point of scraping the liners or toward the lock so when I open it with my right thumb, the thumb pressure pushes the knife into scraping the locking liner.

Yup, second that. Its common but as long as the blade doesn't scape along the liner, its no course for alarm. Unless its a $400 name maker's knife, that is.

I've got a couple of production knives that aren't perfectly centered (mostly BMs) that i use from time to time. I guess in time, the pivot will loosen and then it would be a problem but for now, their useable. BTW, my Sebenza doesn't have a perfectly centered blade.

Ok. It's my Kershaw Whirlwind, my pride and joy. $60 including shipping.

Well, I tried tightening AND loosening the pivot, with no luck.

And yes, it is scraping against the side. I have a money-back guarentee that expires in one week from today. I hope to high heaven that I don't have to send it back.

I'm not too sure about the Whirlwinds, but my guess is that it isn't normal. Maybe the other guys will know. If it isn't normal I would probably send it back and ask for a proper working one.

If your warranty's up in a week I'd definitely send it back. And don't accept it until it meets your satisfaction. Unless the blade's bent there's no reason for scraping. A little off-center maybe, but not much.

The distance between the liner and the blade, even with it pushed to one side, is less than a milimeter. So it's not much.

BTW, I have a lifetime guarentee on it, and it came this way. Trust me.
