Liner lock too far over?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I got my second ZT0350 in the mail today and I noticed that the liner goes almost all the way across the blade to lock up. The ball on the liner is actually really close to touching the other liner. The edge of the far end of the liner and the far end of the blade line up almost perfectly. It seems to lock up pretty tight, it just looks like it is way too far over. I don't have a digital camera, but I took a picture with my phone.

Here is a picture of another one I found online.

That seems to be a pretty big difference to me. Is that a problem? Do I need to send it into ZT for repair or should I just use it until a problem presents itself?

I'd return it.
That's WAY too far over for being new. Way too far.

Whoa yea that seems like a pretty late lockup for a brand new knife. From the few 350s I've seen I didn't notice any with such late lockup.

Looks like there wouldn't be much room for wear, if it was me I'd give Kershaw a call.

Supposed to lock up 33-50% max of the blade. After just a little use yours will develop blade play.

Sounds like it needs servicing or replacing.

Okay, I wrote an email to ZT and will call them if I get a chance tomorrow. I really don't want to have to be without the knife for over a month since I don't have many other carry options. Other than the lock, I really like the knife and it was exactly what I was looking for. I also get the idea that this sort of thing is definitely not the norm for ZT.

Anybody know if it the turn around is actually taking 4-6 weeks? I was waiting on this thing like Christmas and don't really want to wait that much longer.

Regardless if it is, you will be a ton happier when you get it right. That lock is basically 3/4 through the knife's life. Perhaps call and write with the return note to explain to ZT that you waited for months for this knife and you'd appreciate special attention to return it as soon as possible.

Sounds like a plan. The knife is going back either way, I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that it gets taken care of quickly.

Many people get their's back within a week. Their turnaround time is just that fast.

You're in good hands
