Off Topic Liner lock valid concern?

I have been thinking lately about my knife with a liner lock, and something crossed my mind: if I leave my knife closed for a very long time, will the liner lock bend into the flat position and no longer spring out to lock the blade? Or do I need to do routine "knife rests" by leaving the knife open to make sure the liner lock is not constantly pushed into the frame and bent flat? Sorry if I'm being really paranoid, its 11PM and I'm always cranky then.

No. I have a few very early liner locks that have always sat closed and there has been no change at all. Enjoy your knives and don’t sweat the small stuff.
Cool, thanks. I have to break it down to oil it anyway.

Nothing to worry about. Since it's cold formed, it will keep it's memory.

This same debate goes on and on for pistol magazines - do the springs take a set (that would lead to malfunction) when left loaded for a long time, or does the hammer being cocked in condition 1 for a long time lead to the same problem.

Not a bad question - it's reasonable to consider - but no, it is not a problem in any way.

Any replacement springs are usually very cheap to replace if for some reason it should for some reason one goes bad which they rarely do in my experience.

Just remember that with a piece of tensile metal you generally have to bend it past straight in the opposite direction to have an effect on it.
I had a whole collection of cheap linerlocks that sat in their boxes for years with no effects, even the cheapest thinnest lock bars.
Even the old Klein electricians knife with brass liner lock is fine.
