I've got a full tapered tang bird/trout built on 3/32 stock. I've got some mammoth ivory scales I'd like to use, but they're only about 1/8 thick after I get them flat on the backside. They're smooth medium tan with blue flecks.

What materials are preferred for liners with mammoth?

I have G10 in 1/16 red or black, and vulcanized fiber in gray, black, or red.

Either is easily doable. Which is preferred?

If Lin Rhea reads this, it's the knife I texted about the other day.

In my opinion G10 will give you the least trouble over time as it is more impervious to moisture than vulcanized spacer material.

Red or black will work....black is more understated.
