Liner problem with CQC-10

I use this baby a TON at work for cutting dense fabric liners and foam. I just notice the lockup is not as solid. I tapped the spine(really a firm tap,not a whack) and liner moved toward the handle. The liner catches about halfway in when locking and when spine tested, it moved over half way.

Should I try to adjust the pivot and tighten it a little more? Seems to be as tight as always right now. No blade play either that I can notice. I'm wondering if that liner has wore down a little on the edge.

Like I said, I use and use this one but I do not beat it up with battoning or anything.

Thanks All.

did ya wave or inertia open it a lot? that will wear the liner more than usual FWIW.......

ya might try tightening the pivot, if that dont work ya might have to send it in for adjustment,

a lite tap is the correct way to do it imho, and it shouldnt move much, if any FWIW, mine dont move at all when ya do that.

The lock should not move at all once engaged, if it does move then you should send it back to EKI to have a look at.

I always use my thumb over the hole to open it. I never really cared for the wave option. Not a big fan of flipping it either. Just adds to the wear and tear in my opinion. I was really surprised when it moved though. Scared the crap out of me and lucky for me I was kind of watching for that.

I took the knife apart and after looking at each part of the knife that could cause this I notices the grind behind the blade that make contact with the liner was just ever so slightly rounded. I ground it flat and now it locks up like a champ! I just can't figure out why it started now after using the knife between 2-3 years. I've takein it apart and cleaned it many times. You would think it would have shown up before this. Oh well. It seems fixed now.

The tang is supposed to be "hollow"

You may well find that you have some big problems when the lock wears in again.

You have also just thrown your warranty out the window :(

haze is right i dont know if grinding it was a good idea, but hey whats done is done, hopefully it will be ok, if not one of the in-house guys like "STR" could probably repair it, but like i say hopefully it will be ok.

Surely not a good choice on my part. Seems to work but down the road, if I have issues, I will take your advice and contact someone here or just tighten it down good and use it for just cutting materials and such at work. I understand this will limit what I can do with it, but I do not baton or stab anyway. Thanks everyone.

It is still ground at the original angle but I smoothed it out. It had a small area the surely did not look like any of my other folders tangs due including my CQC-7.
