I have just taken in a EDI folder. 4th one I have owned and the best of the lot so far. Liner hits with just full engagement. Took the knife apart as it was loose and readjusted and slightly oiled the bushing area/liner lock. Now the knife does not fail the spine whack test, lock up is tight with no blade wiggle in any direction which it had before in spades. Matter of fact the slightest nudge on the spine would cause the knife's lock to fail. It aboslutely does not now. Which begs the aforementioned question in the title of this post. The liner very easily disengages the tang. You feel just a tiny bit of resistance to the liner across the tang and it releases.

I have had liner locks both ways. One where it really scrapes across the tang and some like this where the resistance is minimal to release. Any pro's or con's to either one? Thanks for any opinions factual or otherwise! :p keepem sharp

One of my knives that did that needed a light sanding touch on the flat of the lockbar where it met the blade tang. It developed a slight burr and wasn't locking up tight enough. Similar to your description. Once I sanded the burr off it locks up solid and bites the tang more when disengaging.
I wouldn't atempt this if your lockbar slides all the way over already and I would also sand very little and keep rechecking it. Once you take off too much, your toast.
