Can any of you Military owners induce blade play by white-knuckling the knife?

I've had some serious problems with linerlockers, and have filed down the locking liner in many of them so that they're recessed below the scales. Even then (especially with knives that have a larger space between the liners), a combination of a white-knuckle grip and torque results in the lock disengaging.

The Military is currently in the running for a large EDC, so getting some details cleared up would be nice... The other knives I'm considering are the large BM AXIS knives.

I have a StarMate with the exact same locking system and I have used the knife ever since I first bought it when they first came out back in, what, the summer of 1999? I have had to "white-knuckle the knife while doing heavy cutting on a number of occasions and have never had a problem with the blade wiggling up or down, neither has it ever wiggled sideways. But I suggest that you keep the pivot screw fairly snug as precaution against accidental opening and that also helps support the blade when open. The Spyderco liner locks use an eccentric adjustable pivot that allows the tang ramp/liner lock interface to be adjusted to the best possible fit so that it minimizes play in the first place, a design not found on many, if any, other makes.

dialex,
He is probably referring to squeezing the knife so hard and long that the knuckles on your fingers start to turn white.

Despite trying many, many times I can't get the Millie to close by white knuckling with either hand. Although, I'm sure that I've read it's been done by left-handed 'knuckling'.

Great lock. The Military is a keeper.

I am left handed and have not been able to get my Spyderco PE Military to close when squeezing the grip. I have tried this on several occasions and the Millie has not let me down. It's a very well built knife.

FWIW, I'm on a #1 Captains of Crush gripper (the 140# one) that I can fully close several times for several sets. I can't make my Military's lock budge. Maybe when I can close the #4... ;) :D
