Linerlock Question/Vantage Pro

Was using my Vantage Pro recently to cut down some heavy cardboard boxes. I had to grip the knife firmly and exert a lot of pressure. After doing so, I noticed that the steel liner lock slid over quite a bit ( at the point of contact when the blade is deployed ). Can the liner slide all the way over to the other side and become disengaged? Thanks in advance.

The liner is .050" thick and the washer between the blade and liner is .015" There is not chance for the liner to get stuck un the other side of the blade. The worse thing that could happen is if you really beat on it you might get some blade play in the fore and aft direction.

I agree, the liner cant move to the other side and cause it to fail. There are those that say that they have made a liner lock fail but I am skeptical.

Thanks for the replies. This was the first time I used my Vantage Pro for a heavy cutting task. Just to be clear, I did not make any twisting or prying movements with my knife...and the blade is still quite sharp...so it cut very well. I'm guessing the liner simply moved over because of the force exerted from the firm grip. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something stupid or that my knife was defective in any way.
Other than that, I love the knife. I sorta wish it did have a different lock up system.....like the 110. In my eyes that would've made this model ideal.....JMO. I plan on getting the Vantage Force Pro later this year.

iv sent my vantage pro small into buck knives to get it fixed for the liner lock problem (it wasn't really fixed because i don't think its that abnormal)... I just walked into my room and got it out just to make sure what i am saying is 100% true (will film and show if requested) but the lock engages at about 20-60% (depending on if i open it with flipper or with thumb hole) and by just pulling the blade back with my hand it will bring the liner lock all the way to the other side of the liner (note im not very strong ) This seems to be a problem with the vantage series of knives but honestly for the price i can put up with it... the lock hasn't failed atleast... it is just how the blade tang is cut... Buck still has alittle more to go before before they are a top knife company in the tactical category, although if they still made the buck/strider knives (or ones of that quality) still i would be taking that back, because that showed that they can make a beast of a tactical knife and can do a great job with a liner lock.

Your liner lock hasn't failed, it just has you nervous. If you want a beast of a knife there is always the CSAR-T, But you carry a Vantage Pro SMALL, don't quite understand that. You can compare the Vantage to any other knife and have pros and cons but until one fails, it's still just your fear and not fact...

Buck has a great tactical knife, with excellent materials at the best price out there. You can't Beat that...

I carry both sizes of Vantages and they have all been fine in that regard, no lock problems. On one of my larges I did mod it with rubber pebbled tape to get a grip with my thumb when I pull it. This is the paperstone model though and the others are ok.View attachment 273534
