3 of us are priviledged to be able to review the JK linerlock. After carrying it and showing it off the guys at work, I have heard some nice compliments and one comment that he wished it opened smoother. I second that as I have other folders that open/close more readily. Something I am convinced can be remedied, btw.

More pics coming when weather cooperates.

I think smoothing/polishing the inside of the blade/outside of the pivot could smooth it out. There is probably still carbon in the hole from the heat treat. I think Andy did the outside of the blade near the washers too. It will also get smoother as time goes on too.

Hi Rocky -

I have polished the blade tang and lock-bar of my Folding Scout, which is very smooth now.

I used a dremel and some white rouge to get the polish to mirror finish, and then the knife became very smooth.

I also tuned the lockbar by bending it to put more pressure against the tang, and thus lock up with more pressure, which makes the knife lock up tight.

There is a lot of little details that make a frame-lock or liner lock just-right.

I like it. There is something sticking up a bit on the liner as you close it, but overall, if you said, "Hey Steve do you want to buy that?" I'd say yes, do you do layaway? I think it is a great little knife and just the right size. I would want a clip for it though.

I carried it everyday for my time with it and didn't have to sharpen it or worry about it getting banged up. Damn fine tool!!!

I think that it`s the ball detent hanging up a bit, probably not drilled deep enough. Future models (if any are ordered) will have a pocket clip. Thanks for doing the review!

Hi Guys-

The Liner Lock was in my mailbox when I arrived home this evening - it is a nice piece!

I will take pictures, measurements and I'll carry it for use for the next week - I look forward to using this little guy -

Initial impressions are that it is smooth opening, locks up tight, and is a nice size for pocket carry.

I don't see any flaws on the knife at all, great pocket knife!

I wish I could have sent out a large model. They are so much smoother to operate.

I actually liked the smaller one. I played with it along with my larger pocket knives and it was excellent. I just can't afford it right now or I would've bought it.

Hi guys -

I am preparing my review to post later this evening - here are some pictures as a preview -

I enjoyed both reviews. Andy`s for the details and your`s for the comparison pics with other knives that people are familiar with. (everybody knows the Buck 110!) I also like the fact that you guys chose different forums to review it in, great idea!

Thanks Rocky - and I disagree that my review is better :^)

I am very much a JK fan, but I do my best to be un-biased in my reviews of knives, even though I consider the maker a friend.

I did enjoy the comparison to the other knives - and noted the venerable Buck 110 in your review.

Thanks John - I try to include the specs where I can measure the knife, and I also like to really get up-close and personal with the knives.

That is an area where your knives really shine - your craftsmanship shows in the details.

I will get the Cub-scout on it's way tomorrow.

best regards -

Yep. Buck 110. Hard to beat it as a tough, reliable tool. Went on many adventures with me as a kid, so I bought another as an adult. I'm not a fan of the swedge or the blade shape so much anymore, but it has nostalgia for a time in my life of innocence and less responsibility. I want one of Johns liner locks...

I`m a huge fan of the 110 too, last count I had 9 of them, from one of the first editions, to a custom shop with BG-42 blade, to new users. I can`t seem to get enough! You can always do the lay away plan on one of my linerlocks. :D

Oh really? We should talk then. And did you get the memo about my scandi handle change?

Ironwood was ordered this morning. I ordered 2 pairs of slabs, I have an order for an ironwood handle hatchet next month, should be sweet! I`m serious about the lay away plan.
