Liners/ Scales thickness...

As of late I have seen a call for some 98 (or 99?) Commanders where their scales and/or liners were thicker than the current production. These were termed mil spec models I believe.

Were any of the other production models in that year(s) "mil speced" as well?

There was a change in the materials used in the Commander in mid 1999. The scales and the liners were thinned a tad. The blade grind was changed slightly to retain blade thickness more towards to point. This is the transition from the First Generation to the Second.

In late 2000, the blade grind was changed back to the original design.

The "Mil-Spec" Commanders was a small run done with First Generation materials. These had Green-Tblades and were logoed with "Mil-Spec". Due to the low number of knives produced in this configuration, it's quit collectable.

EKI has since released a Green-T version of the Commander, in a Second Generation body and it does not have the "Mil-Spec" markings.

As with most of my posts this last month, this one isn't made from home, so I don't have the specs to give you. I'll see about updating it later.

Nakano and John- If I'm not mistaken was there not a "Mil-Spec" version of the Specwar folder ??
I would swear I saw one on an old website somewhere, complete with green blade and all. I can't comment on liner thickness and the such as I never had one but the site had the Commander Mil-Spec advertised as well as a Specwar Mil-Spec.
Donald.

Donald, your correct. When the "Mil-Spec" Commander came out, there was a limited number of "Mil-Spec" Specwars as well.

Thank you. But are all mil spec designated folders with green scales only? Were/ are they available with black scales?

The green might be easier to see here:

Hope that the pictures are clear enough :)

Beautiful Commander, Jonas:D

Now I've got another knife to put on my wish list.
