I just got an Al-Mar knife with linin micarta handles. It was an inpulse buy, but i do like the knife. What is linin micarta and how does it hold up?

I like the linen micarta handles. They look nice and they are easy to grip even when its wet.

Any pics of the knife?

it's "linen" micarta, linen as in the fabric and I think it's pretty strong as with any micarta. Micarta is layers of fabric (paper, canvas, denim, fiber glass, etc.) impregnated with phenolic resin pressurized and heated. this stuff is very strong in this application.(knife handles)

Basically phenolic resin and layers of linen fabric.

Wikipedia Link

Yes, it is layers of linen cloth impregnated with resin. But the resin can be any of a number of resins. Most common are phenolic and epoxy; but the resin can also be silicone or melamine.

Well the others already explained what linen micarta is, so I'll just say its a durable scale material.

The top knife is my main woodsbumming knife.I have used it hard for about the past ten months.Rain, sleet, snow, and sunshine I don't baby it.It has linen micarta scales.(bottom knife is canvas micarta)

Forgot to mention that I really like micarta, too. Here's my hand made Michael Morris knife with micarta handles that I picked out from dozens of handle materials he had available.
