link to a few of my more recent knives

They look like pretty good users Nick. You should be about ready to start making pretty knives soon :footinmou ;)

I sure love the Burl handle pair and the Damascus on the Stag handled one is stunning. Between you and Laredo, I'm feeling downright inferior tonight! :o

Well Nick I must say, it's about time! Holy Moly man, those are just plain perfect. There's nothing (much) that I enjoy more than drooling on myself looking at your work. Thanks for sharing, you just made my day - and some kind of day it's been, too.

And congratulations on your award!!!

Hey Guys-

Thanks!

I've been catching some flack for the proportions of the bowie. I admit the guard is rather wide...but I wanted it to allow a gloved hand to hold it and not get pinched by the inside of the "S" curve. In hand, I (personally) feel it is one of the best knives I've done.

All 3 have really thin edges and my overly anal heat-treat...so they could be used, but I doubt they will. That's the reason I got into making some belt finished blade blanks for folks...it was a great outlet to put all my heat-treat study and testing to actual use! Who'da thunk it??? :D

Thanks again Guys!

Very nice, Nick. I especially like the way that w's variant turned out. Like to talk about it some time.

Nick, honestly, the Bowie looks good to me, and I have a fair eye for proportion.

I prefer symetrical guards over asymetrical, but tons of people are just the opposite. Don't sweat the small shi'ite!!;)

I've seen many of them with guards so long it was sad. ;)

I think the guard fits the knife very well. Asymetrical is way better. That guard isn't all that big it's just that the rest of the knife is so dang small.
When are you going to stop making miniatures and make a man size bowie? :D

Nick,

The handle shape on the Carbon Steel Hunter is am very bestest favorite. I gotta practice on that. Also the implementation is very clean Nick. That's the kinda knife that's gonna look just as good 100 years from now. (And I know your work will be cherished at least that long.)

Steve
