Although I am acquainted with basic maintenance for modern design folders I am truly at ground zero for what to do to keep slipjoints and traditional folders in top condition. Any links on how to keep the snap in these blades, along with smooth opening, nice wood/bone or other handles/scales, etc?
Thanks guys.

i think the main thing is to keep them oiled. and if carbon steel, maybe a bit more oil. and cleaning of the blades aswell. as for the scales... depending on the material, might be a good idea to rub some oil on them every once in a while. although the oils in your hands should be fine to keep up with that.
ofcourse im certainly no expert on the subject, but it seems that would be sufficient.

Yup. And wipe down the blades after you use them if you're cutting food. Mineral oil. That's all I use.
