To clarify, rec.knives is an unmoderated usenet newsgroup forum that's been around for years, long before any of these web-based forums. Quite a while ago a web-based forum was started and called recdotknives -- probably not with any intention of causing confusion, but it did. That forum was closed but now has been restarted, so now that name is causing confusion again....
rec.knives can be accessed with a newsreader, or if you're new to usenet it's probably easier to get started at www.dejanews.com Note that newsgroups do not contain capital letters, so "Rec.Knives" will not work.
There is a definite difference between rec.knives and recdotknives.com.
rec.knives is a Usenet newsgroup. To read it, you need a news reader (Netscape has one built in (look under Communicator > Newsgroups), and your ISP must have a news server.
recdotknives.com is yet another web-based knife discussion forum not unlike this one. to read it, you use the exact same web browser you're using now, just type http://www.recdotknives.com where you typed hppt://www.bladeforums.com to get to this site.
So, I looked over on recdotknives.com when the announcement of its reopening came out and there wasn't much there. Is anything going on now?
