Link to video review: Sanrenmu knives? Where to obtain?

On the Bayi-square in Changzhi is a little shop that has them in store, bought a 710 there yesterday. I believe the steel is the same as the Spyderco Byrd/Tenacious, 8Cr13MoV.

Why buy a knife that's an obvious copycat design of a famous one. I'd feel cheap carrying it. Sanrenmu actually has a few other knives that are not immediate clones of other designs (as far as I know), I would rather take one of those.

The couple hundred $$ difference would ease the pain of feeling cheap, I think.

Why take this design over a more unique one? If you want an inexpensive decently made knife, and the copy is what's for sale, then what difference does it make?

I'll let you know when YOU can see the difference. Until then I might as well be talking to a brick.

It's like those awful ipod copies, fake dvds, fake jeans - people look pathetic with them.

Here are 2 honest budget level original designs that will seriously outperform a fake sebenza at barely more cost. (not meant as deal spotting, just giving an example):

Boker Plus G4
Spyderco Tenacious
Yes they cost a bit more than a fake sebenza, let's say the difference is a CD or 2 fast food meals. Nothing dramatic. But at least you don't have to try to convince yourself that you have something better than it really is.

I guess the answers you seek didn't sink in the last 10 times this was discussed, ad nauseum, in your presence.

"And your wise men don't know how it feee-ee-ee-eels...."

Ok, I confess I own Sanrenmu 710. Well, I also own a Sebenza, so I feel excused.

Is it a shameless design copy? YES.
Is it Sebenza alternative? NO.
Is it a good knife? YES.

What does it matter if it's your thing?

ps. I like that black sanrenmu looks !

the steel is 8cr13mov basically Chinese aus8. They are about the only decent pocket knife you can buy here in china other than a SAK.

IMO quality wise they'll stand up against any sub $25 knife(which is about 3 times their price so not too bad).

If you come to china i can show you where to get them but i have no idea about in the usa.
http://www.srmknives.com/about.asp <--- this is the manufacture's website you can look at their various models there.

Not bad at all. They look like a great little knife for someone on a budget, and they would also make fantastic gifts.

The difference is do you want to support unethical companies. For some people money is more important than ethics. For others they would rather not support companies who copy designs.

I got mine from eBay, focalprice, and qualitychinagoods. All were shipped straight from China.

I heard Sanrenmu actually make the Byrd line of knives , anyone know if this is true or complete rubbish ?

I bought a black and a normal 710 and plan to put the black screws on the normal one and vice versa. :)
These knives are extremely good value for money at least fit and finish wise, haven't used them yet.
I'm not afraid they will fall apart, I have read nothing but good comments on these knives.

So fit and finish is good, although they have some scratching from handling.
Normally I wouldn't except that but for €7 a knife I don't complain.

On the British counterpart of this forum they did do a group buy of these knives and even had a modding contest.
How more knives you buy at the site I linked, the cheaper they get. Maybe a group buy here would be a good idea.

Everytime someone starts a thread about sanrenmu knives some people feel the need to troll and talk about them being knock-offs etc.
It's getting a bit old guys.

@Bigbadboom.
I've read they use the same steel as the Byrd line.
