Linking to specific areas of long thread?

I know how to link to a single post, single window.

I want to know how to link to a single post, while still retaining the thread.

Is there an easy way? I think I can do it if I manually edit a URL. Any tips appreciated.

I don't know of any, but when I get a link to a single window and I want it embedded in the whole thread, I look to the upper right where it says Thread: (thread name) and click on that. The single post stays right where it was but the rest of the thread is now available above and below it.
