I remember having had seen the illustrations or photos, but couldn't find them using the search engine. Thanks for your help.

Dan :)

I remember seeing that too, and after an extensive search I've come up dry. I hate not knowing what terms to use.

As a side note, I recently etched my Tibetan sword with a tomato slice and am now looking at a really cool grey blade with a bright silver tempered section. This is a handy thing to do, as it lets you see exactly where the temper line is, and you can easily have the whole blade polished back up (if you want) in about three minutes with the aid of some Flitz.

but dont; recall it personally. Sounds like good info to know.

So, how long was the tempered area on the Tibetan? From point almost to bolster?

I'll have you know, Ferrous, that I went home for lunch to check this. ;)

It covers all but 3.5" from the tip and 4.5" from the bolster. Temperline has a wavy shape that's just a couple imperfections away from looking like an intentional pattern.
