Anybody ever own/handle? I just came across these online and all I know is made in Taiwan, by a Taiwanese co very unusual looking and rather large, G-10 handles and liner lock. These big folders run 60 up so they should be fairly decent. But I've never heard of them.-Linton Spear Fish. 4 1/2" 440A stainless partially serrated blade with octagonal shaped thumb hole pull, 6 1/8" closed, black G-10 handle, locking liner, heavy black and green nylon belt sheath may be worn in the horizontal or vertical position.

From what I've heard the knives aren't the greatest quality, and the company has stolen several designs from varrious other makers. Handled one shortly one time and it seemed okay, but I'd buy with caution.

My dad collects these things and gave me one for a present some time ago (maybe two years) knife locks up well, has a good heft to it and is priced right for a giant Strider clone. I don't really have the same hang ups alot of these people have with using a knife of dubious manufacture. If it works and its priced better, get it.

The octagonal hole on that particular knife does a great job of skinning your thumb though.

I just read that SPEARFISH folder weighs 420 grams! 455 is a pound! So its a near15 oz folder! WOW can that be true? How can it weigh so much? That's just too heavy.

I've seen some very big Linton folders in a local knifeshop. If I'm not mistaken the first one was the U2 Tanto and the second is the Tiger Shark III. They were about the same size as a Buck Strider 880, but the similarities ended here. They both were overpriced POSs. Out from the box they were dull as a butterknife, the grind lines were sloppy, their clip were weak, the liner was thin and the whole thing rattled when I moved it around! :thumbdn:

The Patszland however was much nicer. I can say it's quality was on par with the better Benchmades or Spydercos, but there was a huge fake diamond insert in the thumbstud. It was the corniest thing I've ever saw on a quality knife in person. :barf:

Maybe it was a typo. The ones I held were just a little bit heavier than a Buck Strider and that was because the liners are made from stainless steel instead of titanium.

I had owned a Linton copy of a Lum chinese folder and it was very well made, except for the diamond-like thumbstud. Opened and locked tight! Thick blade,3/16" and framelock titanium handles.I think the blade was ATS34.Really felt good in the hand.

It must've been a typo regarding the 420oz weight. However, for Christmas a relative gave me a "Viva Mexico" (holy smokes I was ticked) that was "Made in China" (hehehe). I don;t know why, but it weighs a ton! I ought to go out to the shop right now and put it on the scale.

It's a piece of trash...literally. It is absolutely the worst knife I own (out of about 25 or maybe 30 cheapies). In fact, if there are any viva mexico fans out there, i'll send it to you free if you send me shipping costs. (Geez. Don;t get me started)

420 grams not oz, still its nearly a pound! More than I want on my side hiking. That weight was from Linton's Add. So I'd bet its right.

Yeah grams...that's what I meant but I kindly messed up. Still, 420 ounces is alot of weight ain't it? :D

Hey Jill, you want that Viva Mexico folder? hehehe

I just went out and weighed it. 5.6 something ounces and 161 grams. It's the heaviest folder I've ever handled so I'd say the weight they quoted you (420 grams) is wrong.
