Anyone seen or constructed a kit from Linville Knife & Tool? They're not bad looking and they're cheap as heck. Blades are 440C or AUS-8 and they're all under $30. They have 5-6 kits right now, all framelocks (steel handles, I would assume). A couple of the designs are right out of other companies' repetoires, but that happens. Anyway, just curious if anyone has done one of these. My crude knifemaking setup doesn't allow me to do anything that folds just yet, but they have a little $21 KISS-sort of thing on their site that looked like couldbe a fun little project.

I also was curious about the Linville Kit Knives. I've order the #006, and am waiting for it to come it. I'll post some impression after I've used to for awhile. BTW, the owner (guild member Tim Britton) returns emails promptly - which was refreshing.

I've been seeing their ads in TK and dropped by their site: www.linvilleknifeandtool.com

Isn't Tim Britton a "name" custom maker? Anyhow, they are fairly affordable and same price for assembled and kit model.

I doubt the bolstered models are actually framelocks (they must be liner locks) though it looks like there are quite a few frame lock models there.

Any one else got these / built them up? What's the quality like?

Knifekits.com sells some of the same kit , I have built #0001 and two other models they sell , all were fairly easy to assemble , the end result is pretty cool too. Got my scales in Cocobolo and did some simple fielwork on scales and frame , etched the blade and frame , looks nice and works good.
Cool project to whittle away a few hours. Knifekits.com offers more customizations as in different scales , thumbstuds , mosaic pins etc....

There was a write up on Linville kits in I believe the Jan issue of "Tactical Knives" , also in the June issue of "Blade" there is a comparison with the DDR-3 from KnifeKits. I like #006 kit from Linville, I too am waiting for it to arrive. I have a few things I'd like to do to it. ;)

I've got a 006 downstairs... for $30 it's great.

Don't like how strong the detent is, but lockup is solid when you work it in.
