I have been looking at both of these and would like some opinions. I really like the Blackwash version of the 0560 and the black and satin SR-1. Which do you prefer? Which one is smoother?

I have an SR1-A can't speak for the ZT. The Lionsteel is a very well made, elegant bruiser of a knife keeping a respectable overall (5.4oz) weight, haven't had it long but really digging it. No concerns at all on the aluminum frame I've been riding aluminum alloy mountain bikes for two decades now and put them through a hell of a lot more than I'll ever subject this knife to.

How has the lock held up? I've never thought of aluminum as a viable material for a spring lock. Has it loosened up at all? Can you feel any flex?

I had a SR-1A for awhile and the lockup was as solid as my Ti one. It uses Ergal (7000 series Al) which is much stronger than the standard 6000 series "aircraft grade" that we're used to seeing in the knife world. Ergal is used when light weight and a high strength to density ratio is needed, it was actually developed by the Japanese for the frames of the Zero fighters in WWII.

Also, Gianni of Lionsteel said the aluminum model was tested and developed for over a year to see how it would hold up and they never had any issues.

Thank you, that's great information.

Too early to tell long term but it is s pretty stiff lock with a good bit of tension. NO flex and the relief cuts are still pretty thick and wide. I'd have liked the ti model but I have never spent that amount on a knife and probably never will.

Thanks for the info. I don't have a problem reprofiling the 0560 if I end up getting it. How is the geometry on the Lion Steel?

Nice, cuts well for such a thick blade stock. 4.5mm

I would agree with this as well. Slices very well for such a thick blade and of course it'll push cut anything.

I re-profiled mine to a V edge and it cuts way better than the stock convex grind.

I have an SR1 Ti and a 561 and I much prefer the 561. The SR1 is nice but I prefer flippers for starters and I find the 561 much more comfortable in my hand. All around a better knife in my opinion. But thats just me maybe

Well like my title says... I would go with the ZT ..very smooth .. feels super in hand .. better materials imo .. looks sweeeet .. Here is mine with a tuffthumbs glow scale and skull lanyard...I got mine on a deal. If bought one new it would be the stone wash! I have edced mine for 2 months and its rock solid,, just saying..Ray

Yeah, even reprofiled to 30 degrees inclusive i never found it was an efficient cutter. Seriously buttery action on those bearings, but not an all around purpose-driven design in my mind. YMMV and its only FWIW, but I'd have liked to know before i bought mine (so i didn't take a loss when i sold it eventually).

Best of luck.

The zt is a great utility knife and cuts very well at 30º. Rock solid lock. And the flipper rocks on the balls.

Im not too worried about the geometry. Anyone know how thick these two are behind the edge? What are some good competitive options to these two? Price, materials, and quality taken into account. With the exception of spydercos. I have a lot of those, I want to try something higher end and of a different maker. Im a lefty so reversible pocket clips are a must.

Both are great knives, but I love my ZT due to it being a flipper. The blackwash version is very awesome looking. It is smooth and it is a fast flipper. I love the size of the knife and it feels great in the hand. Mine is centered very well and loves to take over my pocket.
