hi, just a question not starting a bunch of trolling.

does the sr1 lock up strong without the rotoblock being engaged or will pressure on the back of the blade cause it to close. i ask because my hest folder will close if you put some pressure on the back of the blade, it causes the titanium lock to slide over. i have several other folders with liner locks, not frame locks and none of them do this.

thank you

Dave,

The SR1's lock is a lot stiffer than the one on the HEST F, it is not an easy knife to close one handed. I wouldn't worry too much about it closing on you even without the rotoblock on.

From the first run of the SR-1 (first 100 pieces) we have made some changing in order to have a stronger locking.
We have preloaded the locking bar with more power and we have changed the engaging angle the blade from 11 to 9 degree.

In any case we have developed the Rotoblock in order to give more safty when you use the knife. We suggest to engage it always

It is very strange, usually with Titanium we have the opposite problem, the locking-bar locks into the blade.
Has the locking bar power enough? bend it and let me know if the problem is still there.

i bent the bar and that did solve the problem, seems like it should have come that way from the factory though.

no i didnt mill the pin i just polished the part of the blade that contacts the pin so it wouldnt affect lockup. it took very little to drop the point into the scales.

i polished right here

Hi, I am also having some problems with the lock-up of my production HEST Folder...

Same thing: Ti frame lock moves out even when little pressure is asserted on the back of the blade. A lot of times, I don't have a second hand to engage the rotoblock when I use the knife while working. I need a knife whose lock is secure w/o the rotoblock.

Is there any way to fix this? I also don't want to accidentally harm anything if I over bend the lock bar myself.

I have several frame locks and liner locks from various companies that are very secure and won't budge... Is this a warranty issue with/for LionSteel?

Really, but mine production one locks up like bank vault and there’s no movement what so ever (maybe lucky for me) :D, Why don’t you send an email to Dpx and I’m sure RYP will take care of you.

Both my production copy through Knife Works and my Mr. DP LE have a very tight lock, even without engaging the rotoblock. Still waiting on my Sterile LE, am hoping it's lock is just as tight.

yup same exact with mine, i like the knife and have been carrying it for the last few weeks, I saw these threads about the lock and checked my knife, what a suprise!!! (not a good one)
i can literally close it easily with my hands after it is opened and "locked" . Under inspection you can see the lock bar being pushed out as you close the blade, i think it is a design issue! I also own an SR1 and it is a great knife and does not have this problem.

You think Lionsteel would issue a recall on these POOR quality knives, but I guess they want to ignore the fact they screwed this one up.All thumbs down for both Lionsteel and DPx.I hope Mr. Pelton's travels fair better than his knives.I will be sticking to AMERICAN made knives as I always have, minus this little set back.At least IF something goes wrong you don't have to ship it half way around the planet for service and wait 4,5,6.....? weeks to get it back.MADE IN THE USA is what I want to see on my knives IMO.

Spare me the blanket condemnation... My SR-1 has pushed some very exceptional knives out of my pocket since its arrival. That pelton guy seems like a tool so I would never try a hest f especially when I have a ZT 0551 but the SR-1 is a work of art. Russ

All the knives made by LionSteel are under guarantee.
You can be sure that we will not leave anyone alone with LionSteel knives that have problems.

+100 - I just got mine last week and the SR-1 is indeed an extremely functional work of art. I can't really find anything tangibly wrong with the SR-1 except that it may be too pretty for the aptitude it obviously has as a heavy duty EDC.
