Anyone have any thoughts as to which one they prefer and why? Been looking at both and cant decide which to pull the trigger on. Mainly used for hiking, general stuff.

Both are pretty comparable knives in size and materials (no surprise there, it's the same manufacturer) - it looks like the main difference here is in the blade shape. Do you want a more pronounced point? If so, get the DPX. The Lionsteel looks like it would be the better slicer with the full flat grind, though.

I'd probably go with the Lionsteel, since I don't tend to stab things nearly as often as I would like a clean and controlled cut like I would get out of a full flat grind.

Jfirack.....

Went thru the same choices a year and half ago...the DPX is my go to simply because of blade height ( spine to edge ) and less belly ... though if the same choice had to happen again the M5 ( wasn’t available at the time ) would of won
