lionsteel M5 query?

Guys I have fallen in love with the new lionsteel M5 in Santos Wood, and I am keen to order one. But the Benchmade 162 Bushcrafter in CPM S30V, has also caught my eye.
I am positive that both will do an excellent job, but curious, since reviews on Sleipner in English are hard to find, how close are these two steels in real world use? Could you say that one is better than the other, since many rave about the superb qualities of CPM S30V. I know that they are two different classes of steel but still curious.
Thank you for any opinions.

I'd like to hear about this knife too. I love the looks of it.

Sleipner on M5 is a 8% chrome secondary hardened tool steel. S30v is a PM stainless steel.

For my experience, this Sleipner with the specific heat treating have better toughness and edge retention. S30v have better corrosion resistance.

Molletta, many thanks for sharing your actual experience and being factual on this matter. It is appreciated very much.
I have gone and ordered the M5 in Santos wood. The M5 is a beautiful combination of steel and wood in design, quality and function.
What else could anyone ask for.

I held one at the store and the grind is too thick. I think it's at 30dps. Good looking knife but it sad that you can't really use the advantage of Sleipner steel due to the knife's thickness on the edge.

Handle thickness:
Over the screws 17,5 mm
Middle of the handle 21,8 mm

Blade thickness: 4.5 mm

Another question to the Lionsteel manufacturers. Is it possible to get a leather sheath according to the olive and legno santo one in black color for the m5b G10?

Kind regards
Henry

My recommendation would be to get one of each, then you can mix and match as you wish. :D

I do have one of each  but the leather sheath is in brown color and i´d like to have a black one. I dont really like the nylon sheath.

Regards,
Henry

I tend to agree with you on the nylon sheaths but they do the job sufficiently and I like the molle compatibility. A black leather sheath sure would compliment the black G10. I would love to see one too.

It is a hollow grind. But it is almost flat. The thickness behind the secondary bevel is 0.8 to 0.9 mm. It is a sturdy knife.

I had fallen in love with the M5 with Santos handle too. It's such a beauty. I then did some research on the steel and realized that it is better than D2 in terms of edge retention, toughness and corrosion resistance. I just wonder how much resistance to corrosion it has? Planning to get one soon.
