I wasn't sure where to post this question about the HEST/F. Since it is made for DPx by LionSteel, this seemed like an appropriate place.

I'm thinking of purchasing a HEST/F Milspec, but I can't find very many recent reviews on it. Most of the reviews I have seen are several years old. My question concerns the lock. I'm interested in hearing from those of you who have been using one for a while. How is the lock doing? Has the lock face worn more quickly than you expected? Have you experienced lock slip or lock rock?

I just use my folding knives for cutting. I don't baton with them. What can I expect from the lock on the HEST/F?

My experience says to expect rock lock. With that said, it’s a super strong frame lock that won’t close on you easily. Give and take...

All of my DPX folders except the Urban had sticky locks.
Dealing with the owner of DPX is something I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Been carrying and using mine since 2011 (the original model) and have never had an issue. Great little knife.

Did you have one of the early models? I ask because a few reviews I encountered claim that LionSteel modified the lock in later runs to resolve lock-rock issues. I don't know if this is true though.

Not sure. It’s a Milspec, about 2-3 years old (when I bought it). If you know how to tell the difference, let me know and I’ll check.

Unfortunately, I don't know. I'm a novice when it comes to the HEST/F, and most of the reviews I've been reading and watching are old. Thanks for the offer though.

Out of curiosity, did you buy it new? How long did it take to develop lock rock?

Yes, and about a year if I recall. I carried it quite a bit the first year I had it.
