Thanks for responding. Since I posted, I've done a bit of research on this topic. The blades of the SR1 and SR2 are, as you suggest, convex. The collective wisdom of the internet is that to maintain a keen edge with a convex shaped blade you should use a strop. I've watched several videos about stropping on the 'tube to get my technique down. Initially, When I first acquired this used SR1a, I used the white stones of my Sharpmaker but I wasn't satisfied with the result because I wasn't sure about the angle. I had set the angle to 40°. Now that I've stropped the blade a few times, I'm a bit happier with the edge.
As an aside, I have the black blade model and the blade itself looked a bit beat up. I tried several things to get it looking better e.g. wd40, silicone spray, extensive wiping with a micrfiber cloth etc. The microfiber cloth worked the best but it left the blade with a bit of a sheen which showed fingerprints.😒 Yesterday, I tried a glass wax/polish I use when finishing stained glass and solder joints and it worked beautifully. It brought the blade back to a nice black satin look and doesn't show fingerprints.
