I have looked all around and can't find a definitive answer about this finish. Specifically, I'm looking at the coated vs. non-coated M7. I have seen different sites say it's PVD, I've seen them say it's a coating, and I believe Molleta only states it's a chemical process. Does anyone know the details of this coating. I'm stuck between coated and satin. The satin looks better, but wonder if the black version is rust resistant. Thanks!

Thanks for the help. So, it's rust protection is somewhat limited, I guess. I know blueing helps some, but not too much. Similar to a patina. I really prefer the looks of the satin, and it would still look great with a patina. That helps my decision. Thanks again!

From what I know of the steel it is supposed to be very similar to D2 which is typically fairly rust resistant already.
