I managed to buy a bottle of Birchwood Casey Perma Blue for steel.

The stuff is being banned for enviromental reasons, over here in Germany.

I wanted to get the stuff for brass/bronce etc. but they couldn't order it any more.
Can I use the liquid gun blue for steel on brass or bronce or should I realy get the oter stuff?
Any tips?

The formula is not made to work with brass or bronze. It may dis-color it, but it will not blue it.

Thank you NStricker, I knew I'd seen that but couldn't find it again.

Here's another home recipe.

The Birchood Casey "Brass Black" does turn it a nice deep black, if you can get some.

Check with a jeweler's supply company. They often carry patina agents that are hard to find. If it will likely work on silver, it will work on brass/bronze.

Thnx for the input
I've printed the sceincecompany formula's and will see wich ones look interesting

And I've found liver of sulpher on the local Ebay here.

And the jewelers company also sounds good.
The only problem with that option is that when I read trouh there catalogue I end up wanting to order way more then I can afford :)
I love the fine tools and materials they offer!
