I'm a big fan Turkish Twist damascus, especially if it's done well. I have no less than 3 custom fixed blades on order just now in Turkish Twist. :D

Any chance of a few more pics of the blade on this Sebenza ? At your leasure of course.

I'm finding out that blued Turkish twist is hard to photograph, this is my first attempt.

Congrats on a great looking knife!

That Damascus is wild looking.

Thank you!

Here's another try at it, I think the design intricacies show up better in this shot.

Very nice indeed. A 5 bar Turkish twist blade is something I have not seen on a Sebenza before. A tighter pattern is more inline with what alot of makers would call "proper Turkish twist" but I quite like the wider more open pattern you see from time to time as well. One has to grind off a lot of steel to get the "stars" in the center to come out so it's a high waste pattern, but man it looks good.:thumbup:

Wow that is unique to say the least. Nice grab, if ever you need to find a new home for that fine knife....

Is that a mosaic pattern? There appears to be "seams" that make it look so.

Turkish twist pattern damascus is made by welding the twisted bars on top of each other. The smaller the bars you have the tighter the pattern but you need to use more. That Sebenza blade is a 5 bar Turkish twist. I have knives that are up to 8 bars.

This is one of my cutoms in Turkish twist for comparison. You can also see the "bars" quite clearly on this blade too.

Jerry Rados made some fantastic damascus, I once has a Sebe with his (BW) ladder pattern, and while not as visually striking as DT ss dam. In the sun it came alive, was also Very hard to photograph. Almost an organic appearence, like a tight wood burl that does not look smooth after finishing.

Good damascus finished to a high grit will have an almost "iridescent" shimmer to it.:thumbup:
