Sorry I posted this in the wrong forum. Mod's, can you move this to the Spyderco forum?

Hi, I'm trying to make a list of all the different Hunter/Pro-Grip(Venator) models and am stuck with the following.

The first C03 Hunters had a rather straight blade with not so much belly. In the Spyderco book, an 'Drop Point folder' advertisement shows a Hunter with a 60/40 Pro-Grip blade as a refinement model for '95. According to Sal, 1200 were made of these.

... The 5th one is a hybrid model that we made during the transition from the C03 "Hunter" model to the C13 "Pro-grip" model. We only made about 1200 pcs so it is not common. It is a very nice piece. Made for hard use.

But, are these the same as the IronStone C03 Hunter that's mentioned here on the forum by Sal, or is that a different model? (couldn't find a pic of that).

... The Iron Hunter is the C01 (Also C03) handle with the C13 blade. As Ewok said, it was an Ironstone exclusive. Since Ironstone closed up, I'm not sure where they went. You might check with Spyderco.

And another question, why is the latest Pro-Grip (SS) made with a 40/60, 50/50 and 75/25 blade? (I found pics of all these types)
Just curious about the reasoning for that.

Thanks,
Ted

After some more reading I found that Spyderco took over/is/was Ironstone's Mail order business as SFO as it's known now.

While going through some links on www.archive.org for www.fe3stone.com I found the following on the Iron Hunter:

Iron Hunter
Another knife available exclusively through the Spyderco Web site, the Iron Hunter is an updated version of Spyderco’s original Hunter model (now discontinued). The C03PS’s drop-point blade shape is right at home both in the field as well as the work place. ATS-55 steel was chosen for this reissue, a high carbon steel that provides the user with the ability to perform normal tasks for extended periods without having to re-sharpen. The stainless steel handles provide a solid heft to the knife itself, as well as an appearance that is pleasing to the eye, no matter if its carried in the office or at the job site.

IS C03PS 50/50

Price $ 82.95
Blade Steel ATS-55
Blade Length 2 3/4"
Overall Length 6 5/8"
Weight 4.0 oz (112g)
Hardness RC: 59-61

But, the picture in the Spyderco book of the upgraded Hunter has a 40/60 edge, and above it's listed as 50/50... Sal?
