List of cheapest to most expensive blade steels.

Anyone know, or have a good idea about this? Someone should make a list, could help determine the value among the various manufacturers producing similar knives with the same steel.

Raw cost of the steel doesn't affect the end price as much as workability, ease of machining and availability do.

Not to mention in most folders, 75% of the cost is in the handle and lock.. not necessarily the blade..

Depending on the steel, it can effect the price a good bit.

Look at the current Spyderco Manix 2 light weight in S110V compared to the Manix 2 light weight in BD-1 price wise...

Same materials except for the steel....

Large difference in price... Almost $40 difference..... And that all the blade steel... S110V vs BD-1....

Even the S30V G10 vers is about $30 less than the S110V LW vers.

Although only about $10 difference between the S30V G10 vs the BD-1 LW.

Yeah, there is a pretty big difference in price between MOV series steel and CPM steel.

Cost of producing the steel and material loss can be a big factor before the steel is even delivered to the company to make knife blades out of it.
