Waiting and waiting for my Benchmade 42, when will they ever ship the naxt batch. Anyways, i have come across a "batch of money" and want to invest in a custom Bali. But have no idea who makes them and with what kind of reputation. Any help is appreciated.

Thank you,
Peter

Nah, if I were you I'd just send your batch of money right over to Mr. NaTeDoGG.

Try http://www.nwcutlery.com to get a 42 quick.

ChuckG (not Gollnick) makes customs, I'll be able to give my opinion on them as soon as I get mine.

Also Bandityo seems to be starting on a custom project. And you can always get on the waiting list in case someone drops out of the gemini project.

Well, Darrel Ralph is still taking orders for Gemini. There's also a slightly out-of-date list of custom makers on my site. But, I gotta tell you guys: I've been contacted by several noted custom makers and I think some exciting opportunities are coming. Apparently Mr. Ralph's little twelve-day sellout raised some eyebrows.

I won't name any names just yet since nobody has committed and I don't want to raise expectations, have one of these makers decide not to pursue balisongs and then have you guys forever think of him and the guy who didn't do a balisong for you.

Feel free to send me an email for current status on the Gemini Project. A limited number of non-serial numbered Gemini knives are still able to be ordered which are going to be wonderful custom balisongs and very collectible given the way this project is progressing.

I think I remember reading or hearing somewhere that Mr Allen Blade was going to be making some.
If so you will definately want to check them out. As far as I know he has a stellar rep and is one hell of a crafstman.

Somewhat off the topic but a while back I think you mentioned a possible new production manufacter getting into producing balisongs, any hints?

Can he pop out 3 or 4 customs a day, like the guys over in Batangas can? Just kidding, thanks, JohnR7 WWW.BalisongKnife.Com

When I want prints made of my pictures, I take 'em to a place called K&K Color Labs. As you enter the building, there's a sign that says, "Your picture will NOT be ready in about an hour." K&K does each print individually by hand. They're perfectly focused, the color is perfect, they'll do minor touch-ups for you, custom exposures, cropping, odd size prints, whatever. But, because it's all done by hand by skilled technicians and because they measure their work by quality and not quantity, it takes time and it costs more.

It's not unusual to spend a year or more waiting for a custom knife. The waiting, IMHO, is part of the experience.

I am currently making custom balis from Ron Millers old jigs. They are really nice balis and I can make you a blade in pretty much any shape. Just let me know.

If I cannot make a Scimitar blade, since I work at Reese Weilands shop (famous grind man) Im sure I could get him to make it for me.

The problem with a Scimitar in this case is that it's a very wide blade. Miller's handle design isn't going to accommodate a really good Scimitar. This is not a flaw of Miller's design, just a limitation.

It'd be sort of like the back seat on some some sports cars. Design conceived of the car as a two-seater, but marketing said it had to have four, so engineering stuffed a back seat in. It's not a very good back seat, but it's there.

I think that trying to stuff a Scimitar into those handles is going to result in a Scimitar that's there, but not very good.

For these handles, I, myself, would consider a think stiletto or a spearpoint.

Thanks Chuck.
Regarding BM and PC's custom balisongs that had a scimitar blade, were the handles much wider than the custom Miller balisongs?

Would Mr. Chuck Gollnick (or anyone else) happen to have a nice close up of a scimitar blade?? I have pics gathered from Lew's site and Susan's site with scimitars (as well as from booshank) but I would like a pic of the blade from several angles
