Just wondering what everyone's favorite micarta/g10/phenoic knife scale is. Feel free to post a pic, or just state it.

Looking to see what everyone else likes.

Canvas Micarta - black, tan, orange.

Besides commercial black and tan canvas Micarta from whoever I see has it, my favorite supplier is ShadeTree Phenolics.
The Blaze Orange laminate they used to make as well as the "Tangerine" burlap they now make is really good for fishing and hunting knives.
Their "Shredded Money" is really cool for a fun knife.
"Tsunami" and "Burl" are really cool on tanto and Japanese blades.
Firehose ( made from real firehose) is good for folders. It looks like lizard skin.

Caution - DO Not go on their website without first checking your bank/credit card balance. If you see something you like - BUY IT RIGHT THEN! What they have changes often, so keep an eye in The Exchange as well as on their site. If you miss buying a something, it may be a long time or a custom order to get it again. Pricy as it may seem, ordering a full sheet is often wise.

My favorite is green canvas with a red liner . But I have been doing some stuff with G10 and I am starting to warm up to it. It is nasty as with any composite you need to evacuate it quickly .. Plus side with the G10 is it is easy on the belts and it is way quicker for me to finish out.

So my list is

Green
Black
Dark Brown

#1 has to be handmade potato sack/coffee bag, then natural canvas, green canvas, black linen and paper "ivory/bone" ...liners to accentuate.

I made my first "mycarta" back in 2006; I call it Lukarta. I've used it ever since then. My favorite is usually whatever I've just made, but really I like the burlaps the best. Here's a few pics of a few of my knives with my Lukarta.

This is my desert linen

Green and natural burlap

And orange with a glow-in-the-dark stripe.

I'm not sure if I have a personal favorite, but everyone that has seen them either prefer my denim mycarta...

or this paper mycarta I made a couple years ago.

I'm not a huge fan of canvas micarta; not because it's an inherently "bad" material, just because I've found a lot of it that just didn't want to finish up evenly. Tons of users really love it though, so it's not going away any time soon. Paper micarta is nice when you want a smooth finish that looks more like bone/ivory/ebony without the hassles.

I use G10 more than anything else. It's easy to work with (just don't scorch it by grinding too aggressively or with dull belts), it's durable as can be and it's available in lots of colors.

I just started using ShadeTree's coffee bag burlap stuff recently, and I really like it too. Not only does it look great and have a nice "feel" to it, I did not find any voids or gaps or soft spots in it.
